Gordon Turk will play Durufle’s beautiful Requiem with orchestra, choir and soloists of Church of the Good Samaritan under the direction of Richard Zuch.
Durufle has based this music on Gregorian Chant, but with the more contemporary harmonies of lush Impressionism, and he creates a colorful blending of the orchestra of strings, harp and trumpets with the organ. Durufle, who was an organist, understands the capabilities of the organ and he composed one of the most unique and beautiful accompaniments of all choral music. Also included on the program will be Mozart’s Solemn Vespers for chorus, soloists and orchestra.
